On 26 June 2025, marking the United Nations’ International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the global call to “invest in prevention. Break the cycle.” will be reflected through a timely webinar: Students’ Response to Substance Use Disorder. Hosted by Ecolink Institute—an accredited training provider under the Colombo Plan, ISSUP, and GCCC—this event brings together students, educators, and future SUD professionals to explore evidence-based prevention strategies. With Dr Thirumagal V, a Global Master Trainer with UNODC and CP‑DAP, will engage in a live, one-hour Zoom discussion that spotlights youth as both beneficiaries and advocates of early intervention.
This initiative aligns with the UN’s strategic focus on disrupting the demand side of addiction through education and empowerment, directly supporting global prevention efforts . By emphasising student voices and actionable prevention tools, the webinar acts as an accessible introduction to Ecolink’s full suite of SUD training programs, including the Universal Treatment Curriculum, Prevention Curriculum, and certification programs. It’s an opportunity to amplify awareness, build professional networks, and inspire a generation equipped to break the cycle in their communities.
